About the Author
Joanne Rowling was born in 1965, and was raised in Chepstow, England. She later went to Exeter University which is where she got her French and Classics degree. She then started writing the Harry Potter books on a plane ride to London’s King Cross. After 5 years she had all of the outlines for the book done. Shortly after she got married, she had her first child. In 1997 her first book was done where she changed her name to J.K. Rowling, hoping that it would attract the boys to read her books, so that they wouldn’t think that a girl wrote them. Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire wasn’t published until 2000 where it received a record breaking number of 1,000,000 copies sold in one day. She has also wrote other series including The Tales of Beedle the Bard and the Casual Vacancy.
Genre
My book Harry Potter would have to be action/adventure, because it fits in with all of the parts of action/adventure. He has two sidekicks--Ron Weasley and Hermoine Granger. There are two problems; one he has to get past challenges from the wizard games to save his life. Two someone is out to get him. Someone put his name in the cup to either set him up or kill him. Then the villain is the person who put his name in the cup. Plus their are battle scenes all throughout the games, because of the wizard games, and probably some coming up, because of the mysterious man who put his name in the cup.
Point of View
Harry Potter is 3rd person omniscient which you can tell by how the author calls everyone by their first name. The definition of 3rd person omniscient is when the narrator uses the words he or she, but then he also knows everything, and shares the thoughts and feelings of most characters. He says Harry did this or Ron said that, or he uses words like he or she. He also tells the feelings of not only the main character Harry, but also of Ron and Hermione, and just about every other character in the book. The only thing that makes Harry the main character is that throughout the story you are following him through his adventure in Hogwarts.
